Last half term, during ILS the Year 8s took part in a collaborative project with Thao Dien Disabled School. This curriculum project evolved from the success of the Thursday after school extra-curricular club. Our students took responsibility for managing a welcome committee, arranging and leading activities with 60 primary children and 40 foundation aged students from Thao Dien, organising a class photo montage of the events and creating goody bags for each child as they departed. The sessions were highly rewarding, enabling Thao Dien students opportunity to connect with others outside of their school community, to enjoy new activities in an exciting environment and for our students to manage an event and for both groups to develop confidences in overcoming language, cultural and ability/disability barriers. A fantastic learning experience!
