I offer a link this week to a set of revision resources compiled by The Guardian newspaper. This is useful for all of our students embarking on IGCSE and IB examinations and those in lower years preparing for internal exams later this term.
All My Sons
Yesterday evening I had the very great pleasure of watching a very assured and mature performance of Arthur Miller’s play, All My Sons. This is a complex and subtle play, set in a context that is far removed from Vietnam, in time and setting. The characters are at times brooding, conflicted, enraged and exultant. It is a story of love, loyalty and betrayal in pursuit of the “American Dream”.
The cast members’ interpretations of the characters were powerful, exquisitely timed and demonstrated detailed insights into the subtleties of Miller’s use of language and drama. This was a piece of theatre worthy of an experienced cast of adult professionals and it was easy to forget that I was watching a school play, performed by Year 10 students.
Congratulations to the whole cast and to Ms Sargent and Ms Griffiths for enabling the whole experience! I look forward in anticipation to another superb performance this evening.
