On Monday 12th November, 11I led a poignant Remembrance Day assembly to all secondary students. Their assembly highlighted the historical significance of Remembrance Day and wearing a poppy, through presentation and performance poetry. We all observed the traditional two minute silence to remember those who have been, and continue to be, affected by conflict. The end of the silence was marked by a moving performance of The Last Post by Max Rudert in Year 12. A clear message of peace was sent by 11I to the BIS community; with Roos Kruimer and Mizuka Yasuda performing an uplifting ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon, accompanied by Vy Trinh Tran and Huy Do on the piano. Their assembly was supported by a concerted effort by BIS prefects selling poppies in the week leading up to Remembrance Day. This is one of the many ways our students at BIS use their knowledge, creativity and performance to promote global citizenship
