From The Head Teacher

There are three important attachments to the BISbuzz email this week.  Please take time to look at these as your help and attention is needed.

1. Please see the letter attached to the Newsletter email which gives information about the BSO Inspection of the school which will take place on the 11-13 March.  We will undertake this inspection to enable us to be formally recognised under a new British Schools Overseas accreditation system.  On Monday morning I will be talking to students about this in an assembly.  A video of the assembly will be available to parents on our school’s YouTube channel.  If you are a friend of BIS through Facebook, you will automatically get notification when the video is ready.

2. Student Enrolment Forecast form, for you to complete to indicate your intentions for the next academic year.  This is an important part of our forward planning so please do complete and return as requested.

3. The PTG Executive Committee nomination form for 2013-14.  The PTG Exec are the glue that holds the PTG together and the members help the school in innumerable ways. These are important posts, therefore, and your support is needed in seeking or re-electing candidates for the new year.

Amanda Gore — laugh and learn

I challenge you to watch Amanda without laughing, crying, learning, and sometimes all three at once.  Lessons on communication and relationships for every family, leader, human being.

Dads — read to your children!

Bestselling author James Patterson has joined the Duchess of Cornwall at the launch of a campaign to encourage more fathers to read to their children. A poll, on behalf of reading charity Booktrust, revealed that only one in eight dads are the main family reader.  "If I can help dads to understand their role in making books and reading more important in children's lives, I'll be a happy man," said Patterson. Reading, he added can "open up a whole world of possibility to them".
