Cross Country Event: Friday 22nd February

Friday 22nd February saw the annual Ho Chi Minh City International Schools Cross Country Meet held at the Saigon South Golf Course. It was a fantastic day and with eight schools participating the level of competition proved to be very high. BIS entered six teams with boys and girls representing in the Primary, Middle and High School race categories.

The U13 event saw students battle it out around a 2.2km course. The boys ran first and maintained a strong pace throughout. A fantastic debut from Toby Holmes saw him finish the race with an outstanding time of 10.02 awarding him first place.

The U13 girls achieved similar success in another hard fought race with Sarah Ryan showing fantastic determination and speed on the home straight seeing her win the event with another fast time of 12.16 and Angela Villamil finishing 3rd with a time of 12.20.

The High School boys event was to follow, this time seeing students compete on a slightly longer course of 3.3km. Once again the BIS boys did not disappoint with Simon Arts winning the race comfortably with an exceptional time of 11.19. Notable mention should also go to Isaac Youm who finished in 3rd place.

The final event of the day was the High School Girls event where a strong joint effort saw Ellie Spencer-Harty and Maya Schmitt finish joint 2nd.

Congratulations to everyone for some fantastic performances and the final overall school results saw BIS finish in first place!
